In certain incidences, you may find yourself with possession over property owned by your customer. Such incidences include products returned by a customer for recalls or products that require installation at the customer’s site. As with your own products, ISO 9001 requires proper documentation and requires you to follow certain procedures when handling property belonging to customers

  • You must maintain proper identification of customer property once you receive it and for the entire duration that you have it
  • Customer property must be properly inspected and any nonconformities must be reported to the customer
    • Inspection is done to check for part numbers, damage to property, quantity, etc
  • Any nonconformities found during the inspection must be properly documented and reported to the customer
