According to ISO 9001:2015 Clause, 8.6.2: “The release of products and services to the customer shall not proceed until the planned arrangements for verification of conformity have been satisfactorily completed. Documented information shall be providing traceability, authorizing release of products and services.”
Throughout the design and development processes, there are certain stages that the product goes through, whether it be going from design to production or the produced goods being sent to customers, etc.
Before products are sent to the next stage, ISO 9001 requires you to check the product to make sure it meets requirements for that specific phase. Products should not be sent to consumers unless they have been checked and inspected to make sure all requirements are met. These checks must be properly documented as well. The person approving that the product meets the requirements must be documented as well.
