The ISO 9001 certification cost is based on the scope, complexity, and size of your business and the certification body you choose. Other factors that may have effects on the cost are the number of locations, the number of employees, and where your organization is in terms of your current quality management system related to ISO 9001 requirements.
LMG will quote you a fixed total fee at the beginning of the process so that you can budget your ISO process without any surprises, such as travel expenses, lodging, or other fees. For example, the total cost of ISO 9001 Certification could be as low as $6,000 if you decide to go with the certification body we recommend. This price will include everything, from preparing the Quality Manual, Procedures, Forms, Records, implementing the quality management system, ISO Awareness Training, Internal, and Certification Body (Registrar) audit support and obtaining ISO 9001 Certification.
There are three kinds of fees involved in the ISO 9001 certification cost: ISO Consultation fees, ISO Certification Body fees, and ISO Recertification fees / Surveillance Audit fees.
COST OF ISO 9001 CONSULTATION
ISO 9001 Consultation Cost can vary based on the amount of service required to implement a quality management system that meets the requirements of ISO 9001. These are the fees that you pay to an ISO consultant to prepare all the necessary and mandated documentation such as the Quality Manual, Procedures, Forms, Records, etc, and guide you through the process such as internal audit, management review meetings, identifying non-conformities, correcting any non-conformities that are identified and implementing the Quality Management System.
ISO 9001 Consultation fees can vary based on the scope of your business, location, and the amount of consultation you will require to successfully implement an effective quality management system tailored to your unique situation.
ISO Consultation involves several onsite visits. Being your local consultant, and our experience and expertise help us to offer you fees that is one of the lowest in the industry. It is essential for you to know in advance how much the whole process will cost you so that you can budget your ISO project accordingly.
ISO 9001 CERTIFICATION BODY FEES
ISO 9001 Certification body fees are based on the kind of certification body you choose. This is the price that you pay to the third-party certification body (registrar), which can vary depends on the scope of your business and the credibility of the certification body.
ISO develops International Standards like ISO 9001, ISO 13485, etc, but they are neither involved in the certification of ISO standards nor do they issue any certificates. ISO certification is performed and the certificate is issued by independent and external certification bodies (Registrars). There are accredited and non-accredited ISO certification bodies. To be accredited is neither mandatory nor non-accredited registrars are all not non-reputable.
It is always recommended to reach out to multiple registrars and compare their audit fees and audit process prior to finalizing one. You may find a number of certification bodies in your area and the way they charge you also might be different. Most of them charge you by the hour plus lodging, traveling, etc. LMG closely works with various certification bodies and helps you reduce the cost of ISO 9001 Certification by choosing the right certification body for you.
COST OF ISO 9001 RECERTIFICATION
ISO 9001 Recertification cost is usually 10-25% less than the initial certification. ISO 9001 Certification is valid for three years. However, organizations must go through an annual onsite surveillance audit during this time to establish consistency that you still meet the requirements of ISO 9001 standards. This is called the ISO Surveillance Audit.
After the third year, the next cycle starts, which is also three years in duration. This is called ISO Recertification Audit. These audits are more or less like a certification audit, but no new certificates are issued as the purpose of this audit is to validate the original ISO certificate issued.
Most certification bodies conduct one surveillance audit a year. The cost of an ISO 9001 Surveillance audit could be 15 – 25 % less than the ISO 9001 Certification fees as you have a quality management system and a process in place.
